We finally took Juan Pablo to the Toledo Zoo for the first time on Sunday afternoon. (By the way, for any families living near Toledo, getting a family membership is totally worth it- it pays for itself in about 2 visits.) He had a great time...it was like watching his favorite Baby Einstein DVD, Baby Noah: Animal Expedition, come to life. Although, I think he was a bit disappointed that he couldn't communicate with any of the animals. He has spent a lot of time over the winter months mastering various animal sounds, and yet no matter how loud he roared at the lion or growled at the polar bear, they just ignored him. Maybe zoo animals speak a different dialect or something. He also started crying because I wouldn't let him pet the crocodile. I hope someday he understands my decision. Despite that, he still had a great time, and so did we. It's so much fun to watch him get excited about seeing the animals, and then reenacting what he saw with his toy animals at home. And who are we kidding? We're not really grown up yet, we love going to the zoo too! And you should see Jeff with the toy animals...the way he makes the elephant eat his hay is so realistic...
