Ana Luisa's birth certificate was issued by the Ethiopian courts last week! This picture is the one attached to her birth certificate. And it looks like we celebrated Ana Luisa's birthday on the correct day...April 25th it is!
We also received updated measurements from the foster home in Addis Ababa. Ana Luisa currently weighs 14 pounds, and is 26 inches long. She is still very tiny, and not even on the growth charts for her age, but she has grown four inches and gained about three pounds in the last four months, so at least she is growing! Please continue to pray for her health, as we were also informed that she is being given more formula and vitamin supplements due to malnutrition.
Now that her birth certificate is here, her visa application is being submitted to the US Embassy in Addis Ababa. The Embassy needs to conduct their own investigation, which involves a visit to Ana Luisa's original orphanage, to make sure that the adoption was conducted ethically. The Embassy has been telling adoptive families that this can take up to eight weeks, but for families who have recently adopted through our adoption agency, it has only taken between two and six weeks. Hopefully we'll be closer to the two week end of that time frame! We are working hard to prepare for our trip, since we are at the point now where we really could get the phone call any day...
