On the Move

As of last Tuesday, October 12, Ana Luisa is officially walking (or, more accurately, toddling). She's been wanting to walk for a very long time now. She was doing great walking a few feet between Jeff and me in the basement, but other than that, she was hesitant to let go (probably, in part, because of the distinct possibility of being mowed down by a zooming three year old).

Last Tuesday around lunchtime she decided that she had had enough and it was time to start walking. She started out in the bathroom, walking towards the kitchen. Juan Pablo had just finished his lunch and ran past her towards the bathroom to wash his hands. She turned around and followed him back to the bathroom, then realizing that he wasn't doing anything particularly exciting, she turned around again and walked out towards the playroom! That evening we all went to Ikea to pick up some things for the basement. Jeff had Ana Luisa in the baby carrier while we were walking through the showroom and she wanted nothing more than to get down. When he finally put her down, she immediately took off walking by herself, and walked through most of the showroom on her own.
She is still very unsteady and falls a lot, but she is so proud to finally be walking. We are very proud of her too!
