On Friday morning while the kids were playing, I decided to take a quick shower. I was in the shower less than five minutes, and as soon as I got out...
Juan Pablo: "Mama, I put an egg in a Tupperware and Ana Luisa is mixing it!"
Me: "Oh good! From your kitchen?"
Juan Pablo: "No, from YOUR kitchen!"
Me (getting a little worried): "A real egg from the fridge?"
Juan Pablo (excitedly): "Yes! And I put it in a Tupperware! We're making cookies!"
I went to investigate, and sure enough, there was Ana Luisa standing at the coffee table in the living room whisking away an egg that Juan Pablo had cracked into a little square container. Of course by this point about half the egg was on the coffee table. I was pretty impressed though that the entire contents of the container/coffee table seemed to be egg and not eggshell...my little egg cracker is getting good at his job. I went into the kitchen to get paper towels to clean up the egg mess, and noticed an empty butter wrapper on the counter. After a little more detective work I found the stick of butter, in the garbage disposal.
What exactly is it that makes 2 and 4-year-olds say, "Hey, mom's in the shower, let's make cookies!!!"? Those two crack me up.
And we did make cookies, though not on the living room coffee table, and using a mixer to cream the butter rather than a garbage disposal.
