Whew!

The last few weeks have been absolutely crazy...Jeff put in two raised beds on the side of our house and got seeds planted, did some landscaping in the front yard, brewed beer (50 bottles!), and framed a room and closet in our basement (we are planning to have a finished basement by the end of the summer!). I have been busy shopping and packing for our trip, getting the house clean and everything ready for the baby, and training for a half-marathon. Here is what Juan Pablo has been up to:

Playing in the sprinkler...
...playing with the hose...
...and playing with the sprinkler after a haircut. To get him to let me cut his hair, I sat him outside on our deck, with the portable DVD player in front of him playing "Go Diego Go!". I let him have a popsicle, then a lollipop, then promised him that if he let me cut his hair, we would take him to Jungle Java (an indoor playground) that evening. Amazing what you have to do to give this kid a decent haircut!

He also has spent some time trying out big boy underwear (please note the band-aids on both knees...I have a feeling these will be a permanent part of his summer wardrobe)...
...and hanging out with Tia Padu and other fun family members.

We decided to take a little break on Monday to go to the beach. When we left the house, it was almost 80 degrees and sunny. By the time we arrived at Hoffmaster State Park in Grand Haven, it was 62 degrees, windy and cloudy. We still had a great time.

We climbed up the dunes (some of us did a little more climbing than others)...

...then ran down.
And of course, the whole time, we couldn't stop thinking about a certain little girl in Ethiopia...

We were exhausted reading of Jeff's various accomplished projects in the yard and basement!
