A couple days ago, Juan Pablo said, "Mami, soy un poquito miope, tengo que ponerme mis lentes de contacto." ("Mami, I'm a little nearsighted, I need to put in my contact lenses."). I laughed and said ok. He went off to the bathroom and started playing with my empty contact lens case, filling it up with water and pretending to put contacts in.
In the meantime, I went in to the kitchen to get dinner started, and Ana Luisa followed Juan Pablo into the bathroom to see what he was doing. After a little while I heard him say, "Ana Luisa necesita lentes de contacto tambien." ("Ana Luisa needs contacts too."). Uh oh. I ran to the bathroom and got there just in time to see Ana Luisa standing there very obediently, eyes wide open, as Juan Pablo's finger moved rapidly toward her eye. I managed to stop him before any eyes were poked out. Or before any contacts were put in, depending on which one of us you ask.
I can already see a pattern emerging...Juan Pablo, crazy, creative, coming up with all kinds of harebrained schemes, enlisting his little sister to assist him...and Ana Luisa, the adoring little sidekick, thrilled to even be invited to play along, willingly following him to the ends of the earth if necessary. "I'm just so happy to be playing with you! Sure, go ahead, poke my eye out! I love you!"
Those two crack me up.
